Abstract Occurrence of some zoonotic bacteria within the family Enterobacteriacae in dairy farm samples (Cows, their milk, calves and dairy milkers’ hand swabs) • Raw milk and rectal swabs from dairy cows (125, each), 82 calves rectal swabs and 45 dairy workers’ hand swabs were collected from five dairy farms at Sharkia Governorate, Egypt. • The overall prevalence rates of E. coli, Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp. and Salmonella spp. in the examined cows’ rectal swabs were 33.6, 19.2, 17.6, 12.8, 14.4 and 1.6%, respectively. • The overall infection rates of E. coli, Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp. Klebsiella spp. in milk samples were 22.4, 7.2, 10.4and 4.8%, respectively. • The overall prevalence rates of E. coli, Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp. and Salmonella spp. in calves’ rectal swabs were 35.4, 19.5, 12.2, 8.5, 13.4 and 1.2%, respectively. • The overall isolation rate of E. coli, Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp. and Proteus spp. in dairy workers’ hand swabs were 11.1, 13.3, 11.1, 2.2 and 33.3%, respectively. 6.2 Occurrence of some zoonotic bacteria within the family Enterobacteriacae in milk consumers. |
