Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both (American Diabetes Association, 2009). Gestational diabetes: is when pregnant women, who had never had diabetes before, has a high blood glucose level during pregnancy. It may precede development of type 2 DM(Lawerenceet al., 2008).Adiponectin is a polypeptide hormone derived from adipose tissue,which exhibits insulin sensitizing and anti-inflammatory properities (Diez and Iglesias, 2003).Aim of the Work:The aim of this work is to compare serum adiponectin level in women with gestational diabetes mellitus, pregestational diabetic women and healthy pregnant women.Subjects and Methods This study was conducted at Clinical Pathology
