Problem of the study:
With the increase of criticism directed to the performance level of Mathematics teachers at the primary stage, the criticism also extended to the preparing programs of Mathematics teacher in the basic education in the Faculties of Education.
In addition, there is a general deficiency in the mathematical knowledge and the educational performance with respect to the developments in the criticism.
Hence, there is a need to review these programs in the light of the international standards.
Thus, the research at tempts to answer the following main questions:
What is the fundamental structure of a suggested and specialized program for preparing mathematics teachers in the basic education in Faculties of Education that copes with international standards to answer this question, the following sub-questions will be also answered:
1- What are the proposed national standards that cope with the international ones in order to develop mathematics teacher’s preparation (Basic Education) in Faculties of Education?
2- To what extent the current program copes with the proposed standards?
3- What is the proposed that is related to the fields of:
Algebra, Statistics, Probability to prepare the mathematics teacher in the basic educations?
4- What are they require mints to carry out this program?
5- What is the effectiveness of teaching some units of the program with regard to:
a) A achievement of the student-teachers.
b) Developing the abilities of the student- teachers to teach primary curricula.
c) What are the modifications in the proposed program after conducting the experiment?
The procedures of the study:
1- Alist of the suggestd standards to develop a program for basic education mathematics teacher ( primary stage ) has been prepared and in light of this list , the suggested program of prepairing mathematics teacher has been designed .
2- One of the syllabuses of the suggested program “ Introduction – to – operations – research “ has been selected .
3- A unit from the suggested syllabus has been selected in light of the suggested standards and it is the unit of “ Games Theory “ .
4- The achievement test and decision making scale have been designed .
5- The suggested unit has been taught for the study sample .
6- The test was preand post administered on the study sample Results of the study:
The study has proved the effectiveness of the suggested program in the light of standards in developing mathematics teachers’ achievement and decision making.
In the light of these results, the researcher recommends developing the curricula of preparing mathematics teachers in the basic education in the light of the international standards to help the student teacher to fulfill his roles and responsibilities as required.
