Abstract

Low performance of EFL student teachers implies lack of
some teaching skills and the inability to adapt to, manage and
evaluate different teaching situations. One of the basic reasons
of this problem is the inadequacy of some teacher education
programs. Therefore, this study presented a new program that
benefited from Moodle capabilities as one of the Learning
Management Systems to provide an accessible and practical
training. The subjects were twenty fourth year English student
teachers, Faculty of education, Fayoum University. The aim
of the study was to investigate the impact of that program on
developing EFL student teachers’ use of teaching skills,
interactive decision-making skills and their attitudes towards
integrating e-learning in their future teaching. The study
employed a quasi-experimental one group pre post-test design.
The study tools included an e-learning program based on
methods of TEFL, a teacher performance observation sheet, a
situation reaction test and an attitude scale towards e-learning.
Pre-testing of the dependent variables was undertaken. The
experimentation of the program lasted for 10 weeks. T-test
was used for analyzing the obtained data. Findings showed
significant effects. Cohen’s d used on the obtained data,
indicated large effect sizes. Discussion of results,
recommendations and suggestions of research studies were
presented.
