Abstract
This thesis includes three chapters: the first of which is a general review of the preparation and properties of dehydrate-L-ascorbic acid and its condensation reactions with nitrogenous compounds Chapter 11 is discussion of the work carried out by the candidate. This includes the synthesis and reaction of L-throe -2, 3,-hexodiulosono-l.4-1actone-2-(psulphamylphenylhydrazone) Treatment of the mono-(p-sulphamylphenylhydrazon~ (1) with boiling acetic anhydride gave an optically inactive olefin compound namely: 4-(2-acetoxyethylidene) ~4-hydroxy-2.3-dioxobu- tano-l.4-1actone-2-{P-sulphamylphenylhydrazone.
