Abstract

Power transmission has always been of high importance. The efficiency of my mchine depends on the amount of power loss in the process of power transmission. One of the most widely methods uses for transmitting power between shafts is gears.
Consequently, the research in the field of gears is very important .spur gears are the most gears commonly used in the industry. Spur gear stress analysis is an engineering problem which has been a high importance for hundreds of years. The method to determine stresses analytically have been developed extensively by the American gear manufactures association (AGMA) . developing an analytical approach and modeling procedure to evaluate stress distribution under working loads and conditions would provide a useful tool to improve spur gear design with high efficiency and low cost.
The stresses distribution in spur gears using contemporary commercial FEM program ANSYS coupled with the solidworks modeler are analyzed and validate. An involute spur gear has been built in solidworks CAD program, then the gear model exported from so;idworks to ANSYS. The bending and contact stresses have been modeled with ANSYS. Furthermore , many factors affected the bending and contact stresses on the gear tooth are taking in to account, and are studied in details to grt deep understanding of their affects.
