Abstract

Occupational Health Hazards among Workers of El- Araby Electronic Industries at Benha City. All over the world approximately 30% to 50% of workers exposing to occupational health hazards in work site. The aim of the study was to assess the occupational health hazards among workers of El- Araby electronic industries in Benha city. Design: Descriptive design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: This study was conducted at El-Araby electronic industries in Benha City. Sample: A systematic random sample of the electronic industry workers was conducted constitutes 10% (300) workers. Tools: Data was collected by using three tools, a structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, Anthropometric measurement tool, and observational checklist. Results: Less than half of the studied workers their age were 20 to less than 30 years old and had more than 10 years of work experience, most of study workers received training courses about management of emergency situation, high percentage of them had satisfactory knowledge for preventive measures from occupational hazards, factors that leading to lower back injuries, and first aid, while less than half of them had unsatisfactory knowledge about body mechanics and the main source of their knowledge toward health was mass media. Conclusion: More than half of the workers suffering from respiratory problems, digestive problems and eye problems, about one third suffering from ear problems and more than two third suffering from neurological problems, and the majority of the studied workers didn’t wear Personal Protective Equipments except the uniform. Recommendations: Health education and orientation programme should be started before the workers enter the factory about the needs and requirements of the job and the risks involved in the industry and the measures to be taken for their personal protection.
