Abstract One hundred and twenty five samples of farm fish and fish products represented by Tilapia nilotica and Claris Lazera as fresh farm fish and fillets of Tilapia nilotica, fish nuggets and crab steak as fish products ( 25 of each ) were collected from different supermarkets to evaluate their microbiological quality and for detection of psychrotrophic bacteria and other bacteria contaminating fish and fish products. Public health significance of isolated microorganisms and possible sources of contamination of fish and fish products with such organisms as well as some recommendations to improve the quality of fish and its products were discussed. |
