Abstract This thesis aims to separate the role of ZnO and CaO that added with Na2O to change the structure and also the physical properties of ZnO.Na2O.B2O3 and CaO.Na2O.B2O3 glasses. N4 data that obtained from deconvolution of infrared spectra can be used to separate the structural species and determine the concentration of each one. This can be done by applying a technique that can be called the ”Species-discrimination technique”. from the results of electrical conductivity and density it was found that : First: There is a linear change in the static properties such as N4, D, Vm with CaO and ZnO content for CaO.Na2O.B2O3 and ZnO.Na2O.B2O3 glasses respectively, revealing that these glasses can be looked as a mixture of two matrices from corresponding binary types of glass, and each property can be expressed as a resultant contribution of these binary systems. Second: It should be noted that: a new form of ’’ mixed modifier’’ effect could be observed for the first time in glasses that contain monovalent Na2O and divalent oxide such as CaO or ZnO. |
