Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare three non-invasive tests for diagnosis of H. pylori; detection of H. pylori antigen in stool by ELISA, evaluation of serum IgG antibodies against H. pylori by ELISA and PCR to detect DNA of H. pylori in saliva.Helicobacter pylori is a helical shaped, gram-negative bacterium that is strongly associated with gastroduodenal disease, including chronic active gastritis, peptic and duodenal ulcer disease, and gastric cancer. The available tests for H. pylori detection are generally divided into invasive tests, based on gastric specimens as (histology, culture, urease test and Polymerase Chain Reaction), and noninvasive tests, based on peripheral samples, such as (serological tests, stool antigen test and urea breath test).
