Abstract

The coprological examination of 300 animals belonging to family Equidae (horses& donkeys) from Brook hospital, some sables in Cairo and Giza Zoo revealed that Strongyline type, Strongyloides westri, Parascaris equorum, Oxyuris equi and Trichonema eggs were detected in 28.75%, 17.05%, 18.75%, 2.5% and 19.4% of equine respectively.
The fecal culture revealed that Strongylus vulgaris, Strongylus edentatus, Strongyloides westri and Trichonema third larval stage were found.
PM examination of 96 scarified donkeys revealed the presence of adult Habronema muscae in (78.13%) of their stomach.
Experimental infection of Musca domestica second stage larvae (L2) by Habronema muscae mature eggs could be succeed with the development of H. muscae third larval stage (infective stage), so Musca domestica fly is proved to be the natural vector of Habronema muscae.
Experimental infection of the larval stages of Sarcophaga fly with mature egg of Habronema muscae and by dissecting the larval stage of the fly it is proved that the larvae of the fly couldn’t be infected with mature eggs of Habronema muscae so Sarcophaga fly is not considered a natural vector of Habronema muscae.
