Abstract This research aims to investigate the effect of rice straw ash on the behaviour of high performance concrete mixes. An experimental work of a wide range of Fourteen mixes for determining the effects of burned rice straw of different ratios (0 – 15 % of cement content by weight as additives and replacement) on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete were investigated to produce high performance concrete. The study includes measuring the workability of concrete by slump and slump flow tests. Also, it includes measuring the properties of the hardened concrete such as compressive, tensile, and flexural strength. The best results of 28-day compression strength were obtained when burned RSA at 1000 ºC was used by replacement 10% of cement content. There is no increase in tensile strength due to addition of RSA in concrete mixes. The flexural strength of concrete containing burned RSA at 1000 ºC was improved compared with control mix. Using Rice Straw Ash will provide a low cost construction material. |
