Abstract
changes and systemic problems encountered with earlier regimens (high-dose preparations) are no longer seen (Buckley, 1987; Phillip and Nichols, 1992).
With the aid of histochemical methods, a large number of enzymes have been detected in the endornetrium over the last twenty years. The activities of thesc enzymes are controlled in large part by hormones. On the other hand, the biological effects of the steroids depend in part on the enzyme systems of the endometrium, their “target organ”. The close interaction between hormones and enzymes in the endometrium takes on clinical significance, since demonstrating the presence or absence of an enzyme may permit valuable conclusions to be drawn about the functional state of the endometriurn (Dallenbach-Hellweg, 1981).
The aim of this work is to study and assess the effect of combined oral contraceptive pills (low-dose containing 0.5 mg norethindrone and 35 ug ethinyl estradiole) and copper IUCD (T-380 type) on the vitality and morphology of the endometrium, the method of the study will extend to clarify the histochemical abnormalities of endometrial tissue response to these contraceptive methods.
