Abstract
to meet the growing need for natural gas and oil products, there has been a marked increase in the exploration, production, and storage of natural gas and oil in seismically active regions of the world during the past decades. seismic analysis of storage tanks and offshore platforms is a difficult work and necessary to predict their behavior.
the finite element(FE) method is utilized to model the liquefied natural gas LNG tank and the oil offshore platform. ANSYS 12, a finite element code that combines structural and fluid simulation capabilities, is used to mode the structures and their components in the three-dimensional space and perform modal and nonlinear seismic analysis.
