Abstract Although roller-stretch levelling is not a new technique it has only recently arose interest as a shape correction procedure in the steel industry In roller-stretch levelling technique the wrap angle is considered as one of the most imortant factor. Thus the aim of this investigation is to predict the relationship between the wrap angle and the overall strain of a steel strip for shape correction. This has been carried out under various levelling, different applied tensile load, while the work-roll diameter is kept constant. The trends of the obtained expermental results show that a substantial wrap angle between roll and strip is desirable for maximum extension at a given applied tension. |
