Abstract

Corn plant (Zea mays L.) is one of the most important cereal crops in Egypt. It is grow in more than 1.9 millions feddans annually. The main objective of those studies will be to develop a commercial product from allelopathic plant methanolic-water extracts and to reduce herbicide rate by using it in combination with plant extracts for weed management in major field crops The work herein was design to Study of the allelopathic effect of the crude methanolic extract (methanol 95 %) of some plants namely horsetial tree (Casuarina equisetifalia), squash (Cucurbita pepo), aleppo pine (Pin us halepensis), camphor (Eucalyptus citirodora) and iris (Iris pseudacorus) on seed germination of two Zea mays hybrids i.e. 321 and 351 and three weed species namely pigweed (Amaranthus retrojlexus L.) , deccan grass (Echinochloa colonum L.) and field bindweed ( Convolvulus arvensis ) under libratory conditions and the synergistic effect of mixing the mentioned plant extracts with fluroxypyr herbicide to obtained the most effective and selective mixtures also comparison of the efficiency of the recommended herbicide with the most effective plc;nt extracts and with the mixtures of reduced rate of fluroxypyr herbicide and the most effective plant extracts on weed control in corn crop, also their effect on corn yield and the yield component.
