المستخلص ,·1- Summary and Conclusions - Food problem is one of the main objectives of A.R.E, especially wheat crop which gets great attention. - The cultivated area of wheat is concentrated in delta with a ratio about to 48.68% of fthe total cultivated area of wheat in A.R.E, but the governorates of upper Egypt occupy about 34.74% of the total cultivated area of wheat in A.R.E. The cultivated area of wheat in Gharbeia governorate is estimated about 5.4% of the total cultivated area of wheat in Egypt in 1996. Wheat production is estimated about 5.6% of the total quantity in Egypt in the same year. It was also found that Gharbeia governorate occupies the sixth position concerning the productivity per feddan of wheat with an average of about 14.52 ardabs within the period ( 1992 _ 1994). This study consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction, the research objective, the sources of data and the review of literature. The second sheds light on the wheat production in Egypt, and in Gharbeia governorate, the Future strategy for wheat production in Egypt. The third chapter deals with, the sample, analysis production and eonomic effecieney, net revenue per feddan of Wheatand of the competitive crops. The study showed theat the cultivated area, production and productivity per feddan of weat increased siginiticanty by about 6.9% 9.4% and 2.82% respectiveely during tbe period ( 1985 - 1996). It was found that the effect of cultivated area on production was greater than the effect of productivity per feddan on production, where R2 -2- eztimated were 0.97 and 0.95 respectively. The study also revealed that the cultivated area, production and productivity per feddan of wheat in Gharbeia governorate took an annual sugnifjcant upward trend to 3.35%, 6.32% and 3.03% respectively within the study period. In addition, the effect of cultivated area on production was greater than the effect of productivity per feddan on prodcution, where R2 were estimated at 0.97 and 093 respectively. It was also fonnd that the farm and offical prices per ardab increased by an annual average estimated are 6.65 and 6.68 L.E respctively. The sample results indicated that the production groups of wheat producers: ( less than one feddan ) , ( 1 <3 feddan ) and ( more than 3 feddans) differ in response to changes in studued production inputs : human labor units, machine labor hours, quantity of seeds, fertilizer ( nitrat and phosphate) pesticide, and clutivated area of wheat. Generally, 98% of the changes in wheat production illustrated the changes in production function variables. It was found tbat the third group’s average productivity of wheat exceeded the other groups. By using analYsis of variance and ( L.S.n ) Methods for the three production groups of wheat prodUcers, it was found that there was significant difference in productivity per feddan between the second and the third group, between 1thefirst and the third group and there was siginifieaDt difference btween the first and the second group. The study indicated that more attention by wheat producers of the first and the second group · It appears from this study that minimUDl production costs and maximum net revenue was fCllundin third group (mor than three -3- feddans). By measuring the coffecient of variation (C.V.) for the majar production inputs of the study sample, it was found that the coeffecient of varition for used quantity of manure and pesticides very high . Net revenue per pound of variable, fixed and total costs were highest in the third group, where was the third group exceeds the other groups · By estimating net revenue per feddan of wheat and of major competitive winter crops, it was found that net revenue per feddan of Barseem was highest. Some of the wheat producers attain the maxmization size in the first group which reached to 15.9 ardabs per feddan but no farmers reached to this size in third group which reach to 19.2 ardabs per feddan · The major recommendatio][ls based on this research can be , summarized as follows: ~More attention should be given by government to guide the wheat produceres to use the te(~hnology which leaed to increase in productivity per feddan of wheat • ..Planting of some varieties which had highest productitity as Sakha 69. _Using appropriate price which encourage the producers to increase the cultivated area of wheat which leads to increase in producing the stratigic crops, decrease wheat imports and improve balance of payment • ..Planting wheat after summer crops with leaves such as maize which leads to increase per feddan. productivity • ..Using machinery in cultivating process this leads to reduce the cost -4- and increase the crop production of the feddan · • Using recommended amounts of inputs leads to increase production and profit per feddan of the wheat crop. _Saving production requirements such as seed and fertilizers , etc, to wheats crop at suitable times · _do not delay time of cultivating and give more attention to serving processes. _Using appropriate price policy for maize crop, this lead to encourage farmers to plant maize before wheat and increase productivity of wheat crop • • Planting of some high yielding Barseem , this lead to save some area from Barseem , can be cultivated by wheat crop • |
