Abstract This study was designed to evaluate qualitative and quantitative effect of low level laser on mandibular defect healing through histological and histochemical analysis. Along with statistical evaluation of histomorphometrical analysis. Animals and methods: 60 male guinea pigs divided into 2 groups: study group(45 animals) and control group(15) animals. The 60 animals undergo surgical procedures to creat a bony defects in their mandibles. The study group was subdivided into group A( received 3minutes laser 5 days after surgery), group B(received 5 minutes laser 5 days after surgery) and group C( received 10 minutes laser 5 days after surgery). The control group did not receive laser. Results: The healing of the bone defects was faster and greater in study groups than in control group. Conclusion: The use of laser stimulation in mandibular bone defect leads to improved bone quality and quantity. |
