Abstract This research project is concerned with the study of some chemical constituents of the plant Caralluma wissmannii. It belongs to family Asclepiadaceae and it is used in folk’s medicine by the people of Yemen Republic for treatment of stomach disorders. In this study, the whole plant C. wissmannii grown in Yemen were processed according to Scheme (1) and the following compounds were identified, characterized and classified as the following groups: 1- Acetogenins (fat derivatives): Long chain saturated hydrocarbons, Unsaturated olefinic hydrocarbons and Oxygenated aliphatic compounds (alcohols, epoxides, acids, esters). 2- Terpenoids : Monoterpenes, Diterpenes and triterpenes. 3- Steroids. 5- Flavonoids. 6- Others. |
