Abstract

This study was carried out at the northern part of the Red Sea, at different
divining sites in front of Hurghada area, and aims to tracking and assessing
changes in reef communities in response to shelter and exposure condition
and to the diving intensity, and to evaluate the efficiency of the implemented
management activities on coral reef healthiness by the Red Sea
Protectorates. Also, studying the growth rates of some selected coral species.
Eight diving sites around Hurghada area were chosen with different
sheltering and exposure condition and also with different diving level, high,
moderates and low. The filed observation carried out from summer 2006 to
autumn 2007. This work covers four main items;
1- Study the substrates composition at the different study sites.
2- Effect of the diving impact on the coral reef of the study sites.
3- Study the two families of fishes (butterflyfishes and surgonfishes) at
the study sites.
4- Linear growth rate of two coral species Acropora humilis and
Millepora platyphylla and also lesion recovery rates in M. platyphylla
