Abstract This study was carried out to determine the effect of exercises program on back pain reduction after disectomy among patients with disc prolapse. Materials and method: A random sample of 60 patients of with disc prolapse after disectomy were selected and divided randomly into two equal groups , 30 patient each . Study group (I) received back exercises program along with routine hospital care , while control group (II) received routine hospital care only. The study was conducted at Neurological department of Menofia university hospital .Tools of the study: four tools were utilized by the researcher for collecting the necessary data. Tool I was interviewing questionnaire. Tool II was observational check list .Tool III was Aberdeen low back pain scale .Tool IV was Oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire. Results revealed that the mean age study group I was 39.4±11.34 and of control group II was 38.2±9.9 . Pain reduction was significantly reduced in study group than control group after receiving low back pain exercises program after disectomy and the activities of daily living were improved in study group than control group. Conclusions: there was reduction of back pain after disectomy to patients who exposed to back exercises program than patients who did not. and there was an improvement in performing of daily living activities. Recommendations: colored booklet about exercise program should be available for patients and nurses. |
