Abstract Many researchers have developed methods and new techniques to model and design rigid pavements. Analysis and assessment of these techniques is of great usefulness for obtaining the most economical and safe design for rigid pavement. The main objective of this study is to analyze and asses the new techniques for the design of rigid pavement. In this work, modeling of rigid pavement by finite element method for obtaining the maximum stresses in concrete slab under different loading, foundation, and environmental conditions and comparing these stresses with recent modified wester guard equations is studied. Design of rigid pavement by Mechanistic-empirical procedures (Egyptian Code Pca, Recent modified PCA and classical PCA) and Emperical procedure (AASHTO) to present comparisons between rigid pavements design methods. Comparisons between rigid and flexible pavements design methods are also presented. |
