Abstract

This research studies the effect of digital revolution on developing tools for architectural education. It begins with presenting the definitions and the basic concepts then on digital revolution era and its effect on the architecture in general then on architectural space in specific. Then, it highlights on the new methods of education for architectural curriculums that were affected by appearance of new concepts of the architectural space during the digital revolution era which has produced a new educational space.
This research is concerned with the digital applications used to improve the quality of architectural design and education by studying the role of digital tools in developing architectural education. It is also concerned with the direction of digital media applications in architectural design field by with a comparison among computer programs’ qualifications that have helped in developing educational level of architectural design.
Next, the study transfers to discuss the visual applications used to improve the quality of architectural design and education by introducing the new tools which had been created by the techniques of digital revolution .Then the research shows the applications of Mixed Reality, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Augmented Virtuality and their applications in the field of developing tools for architectural education.
Afterward, the research transfers to the applications side by studying one of virtual reality applications ”The Cave System”, where the research is trying to prove the importance of realization of the fourth dimension for the space in design step. Research also tries to show the extra abilities of these techniques which can develop design quality and avoid design mistakes.
This research introduces an applicable study for a digital cave that had designed and manufactured in the Faculty of Engineering in Port Said. It also presents different analysis of the experiment results.
