Abstract

The potato (Solanum tubersoum L.) crop ranks fourth in the world from the view point of economic importance, and is used for human consumption.animal feed and as a source of starch and alcohol. In Egypt, potato occupies an important position among all vegetable crops. Potato plants are usually subjected to numerous diseases caused by Fungi, Bacteria, Viruses.phytoplasma and Viroids. Many viruses have been found in potato; more than 25 different plant viruses are pathogenic to potato. Potato viruses X (PVX.Potato virus Y (PVY), potato leaf roll virus (PLRV) cause losses of potato crop and highly, affecting the quality and quantity of potato in commercial production.
