Abstract

In this work some bacteriological and immunological studies
on Nigella sativa (N. sativa) were carried out as for evaluation of
the N. saliva antibacterial and immunomodulatory effects on the
immune cells, specifically monocyte. Blood samples were collected
from healthy chickens for separation of peripheral blood
mononuclear cells.
At first, one hundred twenty native breed (baladi) chickens of
average weight about 700 gm/chicken were used in the study. The
chickens were divided in to two experimental groups. The first
group contained sixty chickens and received black seed oil.. The
second group also contained sixty chickens and left as control.
Chickens in both groups feeded with regular maintenance ration.
Blood and serum were collected from each group at (2, 4 and 6
weeks) post receiving the black seed oil.
So, at the beginning culturing of peripheral blood mononuclear
cells and this method has described a simple reproducible method
for obtaining a high yield viable monocytes. The
immunomodulatory effect of the black seed oil group have the
typical morphologic same the control group.
