Abstract The kidney is one of the most common sites in the body for cysts. Although the cysts in the different diseases are histologically similar, their number, location, clinical features, and complications are different. The better understanding of the pathogenesis of the various types of cystic diseases of the kidney gave us a good chance in developing new modalities in prevention or treatment of the various cystic diseases of the kidney, and preventing complications that could result from such diseases as ESRD or to prevent the development of neoplasia in some cystic conditions. The cystic diseases of the kidney are classified by AAP into Genetic and Non-genetic types, they are summarized in the following tables: |
