Abstract This study was conducted to determine the impact of health educational program about diabetes for diabetic children in preparatory schools in Port Said. The subjects of the study were all diabetic children in preparatory schools in Port Said, their number were 60 child. Data were collected by using 2 forms: The first one, interview questionnaire that was designed to determine the knowledge and self care practices about diabetes, the second form was observational checklist which were used to investigate children practices regarding practice of insulin injection, blood and urine glucose monitoring, foot care. The main finding were the studied children had poor knowledge as well as poor self care practices regarding diabetes before conducting the health educational program. The data also revealed a significant highly improvement in diabetic children knowledge and practice after implementation of the program A slight decline in their knowledge and practice had been detected after six month. A statistically significant positive correlation were be detected between knowledge and practices in post test and six months later. |
