Abstract Human activities resulted in generation of wastewater that needs careful management in order to preserve the surrounding environment of pollution. Several treatment processes are commonly used tConstructed wetlands have been widely used worldwide for treatment of various types of wastewater including domestic, industrial, agricultural and storm water drainage enabling high contaminants removal efficiency. Two types of flow are commonly used, namely Surface Flow & Sub-Surface Flow. This study addresses the use of a combined SF/SSF newly introduced for investigation in Egyption Environment in view of previous investigation of SF system in Manzala (part I of this thesis) & SSF system (previous investigation of the author & supervising). In this study pilot constructed wetlands systems ware used to investigate the efficiency of these processes in the Egyptian environment for treating wastewater. The study was carried out at two sets as follows :o provide adequate treatment for wastewater including natural systems and mechanically operated systems. Mechanically operated systems are encountered in congested areas while natural systems could be applied where available lands and smaller communities are encountered offering less operation and maintenance costs. |
