Abstract The present study aimed to reduce pedestrians’ road traffic injuries among early adolescents in Port Said city, used a quasi- experimental research design. 40 students participated in the study from four public preparatory schools in Port said city , data were collected using 5 tools; Tool 1: included the assessment of traffic and roads condition, Tool II,III,IV,V covered the educational program which was implemented three times , pre, immediate post, and 3 months after the educational program. The program delivered in eight sessions, one session per day, each teaching session took 2 hours daily for each group to assess students’ lmowledge, attitude, practice about traffic signs and signals, crossing streets and intersections, safe walking and playing and safe route to school. The results revealed that there was a significant improvement of students’ knowledge, attitude and practice related to traffic signs, crossing the roads, safe walking and playing and safe route to school in both immediate post & 3 months after educational program compared with pre-intervention program phase. The study concluded that, the use of educational programs for instructed pedestrian students about applying the safety rules of walking and crossing roads, and recommended educational programs about preventive measures guidelines including raising the public’s awareness of safety and the need for continuous training among road users particularly pedestrians’ children, who are most vulnerable for traffic injuries. |
