Abstract Blastocystis hominis is a common intestinal protozoan which belongs to subphylum Sporozoa. B. hominis is commonly found in humans all over the world but is particularly more prevalent in developing countries than in developed countries. The mode of transmission of this organism is by the faeco-oral route, also water-borne and zoonotic transmission has been suggested. |
