The issue of water from the strategic issues and vital within the system of economic development in general and agricultural development in particular.
Agriculture is one of the most water-consuming sectors, especially since this sector consumes about 82% of available water resources, so it was necessary to study the water requirements of different crops in order to achieve optimal use of water and achieve the greatest possible return per unit of water.
Despite efforts to increase the rates of development on the land of Sinai, but the system of agricultural development still faces many problems which may be an obstacle to development efforts and perhaps the most significant rise in the relative importance of arable land and unused, estimated area of about 2.5 million acres, representing about 38 % of the total land Alsinaoip This land required for cultivation of many wells dug deep and expensive, and set up many projects for the purposes of intensification of population and settlement in these areas and all require substantial financial Atmadt by both the government and investment sectors.
In the light of the scarcity of water resources and the high cost of irrigation land Alsinaoip the current crop structure includes some farms with low net revenue of the unit irrigation due to the full knowledge of the farmers Sinai water needs of the gay crops, reflecting that the planning for the current production does not achieve maximizing the use of water resources available.
The study is intended to shed light on the characterization of Egypt’s water resources with reference to the situation in the governorate of North Sinai. Alongside the evolution of cultivated areas of the most important vegetable crops in light of available water resources. And then reviewing the indicators of economic efficiency and irrigation of the most important of these crops. As well as shed light on the functions and the cost of production of vegetable crops under different irrigation systems. Then review the economic outlook for the Private Sector wells and surface run-optimal. Finally, planning for the various productive vegetable crops Alsinaoip under Alfdani maximize the net return per unit irrigation.
