Summary
This study aimed at evaluating into the geochemical characteristics of soils developed on Ramlet Momyir area. The studied area is located at the south western part of Sinai Peninsula. It is bounded by the following corrdinates: longitude 33° 19 and 33° 33 East and latitade 28° 57 and 29° 05 North. This area is considered of the most promising area in the south western side of Sinai Peninsula due to the soils and water potentialities.
from the geological point of view, the area under study is located at the southwestern side of Sinai peninsala , and the lithological strata are composed mainly of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
Five soil profiles, eleven surface soil samples and twelve rock samples were selected to represent the studied area. The profiles were described morphologically in the field and soil physic!, chemical and geochemical characteristics were evaluated. The obtained results indicate the following.
1- Physical and chemical properties
Soil texture class of Ramlet Homyir area is mostly sand and loamy sand or sandy loam; CaCO3 content ranges from 1.7 to 11.79%; organic matter content is very low due to the desertic conditions prevailing soil pH values ranged 7.1 - 8.2, indicate that the soils are neutral to moderately alkaline. ECe values ranged from 0.5 to 2.9 dSm-I, indicate that the soils are nonsaline.

Soluble cations are domnated in general by Ca++ followed by Mg++ and Na+, while K4 ions were the least abundent soluble cations. Soluble anions, generally, followed the order: SO4- >
> HCO3-.
2-StatistiCal size parameters :
The sediments are well sorted suggesting that transportation and deposition of soil materials took place by wind actions.
3-Micromorphological studies:
Soil matrix includes the following :
•Skeleton grains are mainly of coarse to fine angular to subaugular single grains, dominated by quartz followed by feldspars, with few amount of heavy minerals (zircom, amphiboles, opaques and hornblend).
•Voids are simple packing with vughs and vescial pattern voids.
•Plasma is mainly found as skelsepic (argillasepic plasmic fabric) in most of the studied samples.
•Pedological features are present in most of the studied samples as calcic nodules, segregations, lime concretions and iron manganese complexes..
4- Geochemical properties
4.1- Total elemental analysis reveals that silica content is the most predominate constituent in all the studied samples, while Ca0 occurs as relatively low content. Mg0 is relatively abundant due to the addition of weathering products and /or to the presence or absence of the chain

silicate minerals, this condition reflects the nature of the parent material.
4-2- Trace elements analysis showed that Ba is the most dominating element in the rock and soil samples followed by strontium and zircon, while the heavy metals such as V, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Rb, Y, Nb and Pb are detected in low concentrations.
5- The radiometric study carried out on the collected samples together with the geochemical studies reveal that radioactivity is essentially related to uranium element.
