المستخلص

Athletic Heart Syndrome is anstellation of clinical (slow resting pulse with large volume and normal character, displaced apex of Left ventricular hypertrophy, may be a third and fourth heart sound heard as well, Premature beats and flow innocent murmurs), electrocardiographic (sinus bradycardia, sinus arrhythmia, atrioventricular conduction delay, benign early repolarization pattern, evidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, evidence of right ventricular hypertrophy, right atrial enlargement, left atrial enlargement, incomplete right bundle branch block, atrial fibrillation and premature ventricular depolarization) and echocardiographic ( increased left ventricular end diastolic dimension , Left ventricular wall thickness, left ventricle mass and left ventricle mass index; all the above measures reach upper limits of normal. Preserved Left ventricular systolic function which serves as an important point of differentiation between potentially pathologic changes with respect to cardiac morphology versus benign physiologic adaptation to exercise training, increase left atrial dimension to upper limits of normal, increased right ventricular end diastolic volume, wall thickness, and mass with normal right ventricular systolic function) variants of normal found in well-trained athletes.
Athletes are regarded to constitute the healthiest segment of the society while exercise itself is considered a mean of improving personal health and decreasing the chance of cardiovascular disease so the sudden death of an athlete in training or competition, although infrequent, it is a devastating event to all involved (patient, family, friends and team) and to the public.
