Abstract

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) refers to a characteristic set of structural and functional kidney abnormalities in patients with diabetes .Diabetic nephropathy is a common microvascular complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus, it is a serious diabetic complication and accounts for much of its morbidity and mortality Diabetic nephropathy denotes a clinical condition characterized by persistent proteinuria, decline in renal glomerular function hypertension, and progression to end stage renal disease This study aimed to asses the urinary MACR and its relationship to hypertension and glycemic control in patients with or without hyperglycemia This study was carried out at menoufiya university hospital and samples were collected from cardiology department and diabetic outpatient clinic This study was carried out in the duration from April 2008 to February 2009 with hypertension (25 females 21males).their ages ranged from (36-69)years In addition to age and gender matched 15 apparently normal healthy subjects as a control group (9 females – 6 males).The ages of control group ranged between (38-59)years.
