Abstract It has been clearly demonstrated that hyperglycemia is directly related to hyperfiltration and renal hyperperfusion ,and it has been causally linked to vascular and glomerular dysfunction. In the present study, we aimed to assess whether Doppler ultrasonography could be used to detect early changes in renal RI in children with type 1 diabetes and to measure serum and urine NO and the possible correlations between these markers and metabolic parameters The present study included 30 children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus They divided into two groups according to their pubertal stages: Group 1: included 15 prepubertal children with type 1 diabetes mellitus who were defined as Tanner stage1 Their ages ranged between 8 to 14 years with a Mean of 12.600 ±1.765. They were 11 females and 4 males. Group 2: included 15 pubertal children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus who were defined as Tanner stages 2-5 Their ages ranged between 15 to 19 years with a Mean of 16.400 ±1.805. They were 11 females and 4 males. Another group of 15 healthy subjects of comparable age and sex were included as control group. Their ages ranged between 8 to 19 years. They were 11 females and 4 males |
