Abstract

Abstract
This study was carried out to estimate the relationship of body condition score and 28 linear type traits with some productive and reproductive traits using 2190 records obtained from 749 Holstein-Friesian cows. Data were analyzed by random regression test-day animal model. Results revealed significant effect of cow, calving year and stage of lactation on most studied traits. Body traits showed low to moderate high h2 ranged from 0.06 for SH to 0.42 for ANG. Udder traits showed h2 ranging from 0.07 to 0.47, while teat traits showed estimates ranging from 0.17 to 0.48. Results indicated strong antagonism between BCS measured at most stages of lactation and milk yield. Selection for higher milk yield would also result in cows having longer fore udders. Results revealed negative low to moderate (favorable) additive correlations between SCC and both FUA and UD, ranging from -0.07 to -0.39. BCS may be useful tool in selection programs to maintain or improve levels of reproductive performance genetically.
