Abstract Aim of the work To evaluate the primary closure of common bile duct over choledocho-duodenal stent in cases of calcular obstructive jaundice as regard to the technique, operating time, advantages, complications and hospital stay and cost effective. Conclusion We conclude that primary closure of the CBD over choledocho-duodenal plastic biliary stent after open exploration in cases of calcular obstructive jaundice is a safe, effective, time sparing, cost effective and decrease hospital stay adjunct to CND exploration through a choledochotomy. Placement of the endoprosthesis is associated with low morbidity and eliminates the complications related to T-tubes. The use of choledochoscope is an essential step for exploration of common bile duct as its regular use reduces the incidence of retained or missed stones. This procedure is considered the preferred method for drainage of CDB stones in our department. |
