Abstract
Aim of the work
To evaluate the results of a simple technique for treatment of displaced supracondylor fractures of the humerus in children by closed reduction and percutaneous pinning stressing on gaining the best functional results and avoidance of complications.
Conclusion
The results were assessed were satisfactory in 95% of cases (19 case) and unsatisfactory in 5% of cases (one case) and that was in the case which was treated by two lateral wires because of pain migration.
Very important factors were studied in relation to the result and revealed that:
Early treatment of the patients make the reduction easy and gives good results management of edema in the form of anti-edema drugs and elevation of the limb make the reduction easy and allow palpation of the ulnar nerve during insertion of the medial pin.
Crossed wires are more biomechanically stable than 2 lateral wires.
Lateral wires were used in swollen elbow to avoid injury the ulnar nerve. The more accurate the reduction, the better the results.
