Abstract One hundred eight Hy-line hens, 75 weeks of age were used to study the effect of 11 or 15 days fasting followed by 21 days of feeding straight yellow corn or fortified yellow corn on subsequent performance. The traits studied were changes of body weight, weight of some organs, egg production, egg weight and mass, feed consumption, feed conversion, egg quality, packed cell volume % and number of lymphocytes and heterophils.
