Abstract
The interaction between N-arylisoindolines l~-~ (Fig.l) and 1T -acceptors studied can be divided into three types based on the electron affinity of these acceptors:
i) With acceptors of week electron affinity, e.g.dicyano methyl~ne inrlnnp .1,3-dione (CNIND) and diethyl dicyano fumarate (DDF) a CT-complex is formed initially and its absorbance does not change under the experimental conditions required for determination of the association constants.
ii) With acceptors of mooerClte electron affinity (e.g. p bromanil (BRL) and p-chloranil (CHL) an initial CT-complex is formed which undergoes some chemical conversions in a few hours.
iii) With acceptors of high electron affinity (e.g.tetra-
cynnopthy]C’ne (TCNE) and 2,3-djchloro-5,6 rlicYnnobpnzo- quinone (DDQ) transient CT-complexp.s are formed which are
transformed immediatly into reaction products.
