Abstract SYNTHESIS OF SOME NITROGEN CONTAINING HETEROCYCLES VIA Tl~RNARY CONDENSATION REACTIONS The aim of our work is the study of the utilty of the ll1ulticomponent one flask method for the synthesis of some heterocyclic compounds containing nitrogen and oxygen. The thesis consists of two parts describing the utility of the oneepot method for the synthesis of bipyridinyl, fused pyran, thiopyran,pyrimidine, pyranoquinoline, benzopyran , benzodipyran and naphthodipyran derivatives of applied value. The first part In this part ,we describe the utility of 3-acetylpyridine in heterocyclic synthesis. It has been found that stirring an equimolar ratio of aldehydes, malononitrile and 3-acetylpyridine at room temperature in ethanol in the presence of ammoniun acetate gave the bipyridnyl dervatives (104a-d) as shown in (scheme 1) The sceond part In this part , we studied the ternary condensation of aldehydes with malononitrile and some phenolic compounds. It has been found that heating all equimolar amounts or aldehydes , malononitrile and 8-hydroxyquinoline in ethanolic / piperidine solution under reflux for 668 hrs. produced the corresponding pyranoquinoline derivatives (117) (Scheme I). |
