Abstract Chronic Diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular diseases are the main causes of death worldwide. Cancer is a genetic disease that develops when one or more cells begin to grow uncontrollably, and this may be due to activation of oncogenes (positive groeth regulators), and/or inactivation of tumor suppressor genes (negative growth regulators). Coordinate regulation of the rate of cell proliferation and cell death is an important determinant in maintenance of homeostasis. Loss of control of this balance is central to the development of cancer. |
