Abstract

Summary:-This study was done on 67 female rabbits of different postnatal stages. The specimens were classified into 3 groups for anatomical, histological and morphometerial studies. The present study revealed that, there were many differences of the topography, morphology, histology and morphometery according to postnatal stages (neonate, premature and mature rabbits) 1.The ovary : In neonate rabbit is a rod- like- shaped. It is fixed with delicate mesoovarian ligament. Proper ligament and sensory ligament. The ovarian cortex and medulla are not demarcated from each other at this stage. The ovary in premature stage (6 weeks) it has cellular masses (sex cords), with on apparently detected oogonia . The broad cortical and a narrow zone are well demarcated. At this stage the ovary is not covered completely with the ovarian bursa. In mature ovary; (48 weeks old) , all stages of the ovarian follicles are detected . Also, the ovary is fixed with mesoovarian; proper and sensory ligaments of the ovary.2.The oviduct (fallopian tube) ; In neonate stage, the tube appears as a thin walled , less tortuous duct . The cranial end of the duct is guarded with long primary folds. The caudal end of the duct is straight with illdefined folds and opens directly into the tip of the uterine horn without intramural part . In premature stage, fallopian tube : appears more tortuous cranially than the caudal one . The ampullary part of the uterine tube is lined with finger –like primary and secondary folds. It,s lining epithelium is differentiated into columnar ciliated and non ciliated secretary types .the number and height of the mucosal folds decrease gradually from the ampullary segment to the lower part of the tube-tunica muscularis thickness is increased , with clear outer inner circular and outer longitudinal layers. In mature stage, the fallopian tube has a cranial tortuous than the caudal one. There are well developed finger-like projections so-called fimbriae. The uterine end of the fallopian tube opens directly to the tip of the uterine horn, without intramural part. The thickness of lamina epithelialis and number of the ciliated epithelial cells are well developed at the ovarian end more than the uterine end of the oviduct. .
