Abstract
– The effect of cutting root extraction of licorice plants and its effect on certain micro-organisms was studied .
Occurrence of bacteria (total) , sporeformers , actinomy-cetes , fungi and non –symbiotic nitrogen fixers (Azotobacter and Clostridium )was investigated in pot experiments .
1 – The hundred colonies from the plates count of bacteria were isolated at random from both non-rhizosphere and rhizosphere soils of licorice plants during the different growth phases . These isolateds were investigated morphologically and physiologically in order to obtain the predominent types of micro-organisms in rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soil.
Detection and identification of root nodule bacteria in licorice roots were also investigated.
