Abstract

Nigella sativa, L is one of the most economical and promising medicinal and aromatic plants. The seeds are used in medicinal folklore and bakery, and seeds oil used as an antiasthmatic drug and in strengthening the immunity system. A trial to grow such plant under sandy soil conditions prevailed in many wide spread areas in Egypt including Shosha region, West Samalout, Minia Governorate was explored.
A field experiment was carried out during 1994 / 95 and 1995 /96 seasons to explore the response of Nigella sativa, plants grown in sandy soil,located at Shosha, West Samalout, Minia Governorate, to four different rates of ammonium sulphate (0, 200 ,300 or 400 kg/fed)and four potassium sulphate rates (0 , 50, 100 or 150 kg/fed).different vegetative growth , yield components,oil and some chemical constituents were studied.
