Abstract

Mexican marigold, Tagetes minuta plant is considered as one of the most important medicinal and aromatic plants. It belongs to Family Asteraceae, and widely grown in Egypt . The importance of this plant is due to the volatile oil, which is produced from flowers and leaves. The volatile oil showed an antimicrobial activity and has insecticidal activity. Moreover, the oil has hypotensive, bronchodilatory, spasmolytic and anti-inflammatory effects is used in the flavour, fragrance and perfumes industries.
Two field experiments were executed during two successive seasons of 1997 and 1998 at the Experimental Farm, Medicinal and Aromatic plant section, Agricultural Research Station at Mallawy, Minia Governorate. The first one aimed to study the effect of mineral NP fertilization and two biofertilizer, microbein and phosphorene, treatments on vegetative growth, flower yield , oil and some chemical constituents of Tagetes minuta plants. While, the second experiment was carried out to investigate the response of Tagetes minuta plants to zinc and/or manganese and biofertilization in form of microbein and phosphorene treatments in terms of the same vegetative growth parameters flowers yield, oil and some chemical constituents.
