Abstract The present study evaluates and assesses the important role that can be played by the process of energy storage. A complete evaluation of most forms on which energy can be stored is presented. It is found that when energy is stored in the form of hydrogen, its transmission becomes more economic and safe. This work can be considered as a parametric study to evaluate and compute the hydrogen discharge from different metal hydrides pertained to different geometries and heat exchanging mechanisms. The evaluation and computation are accomplished through an adopted mathematical model and a computer program. The adopted model is expanded to treat the following problems: i) Variation of fluid physical parameters with its temperature, ii) dependence of dissociation pressure and heat of reaction on the hydrogen to metal atom ratio, iii) investigation of using other fluids rather than water; and iv) extensive analysis including most controlling para¬meters in the process of hydrogen discharge in metal hydride storage beds. |
