Abstract The object of this ”Uh-esis is to study the performance of the double-sided - linear: - induction motor when the exci¬tation is of unconventional mode, i.e. from nonsiniisoidal supplies. The introduction deals Faith a brief explanation of the principles of the linear induction motor, its main configur¬ations and its M.-..,St useful and widespread applications. Also comparison between the linear induction motor and the conven¬tional rotating -induction motor is included. Methods for electric power s:Tpply and speed control of linear induction motor also have recieved mention in the introduction. The thesis contains a brief survey of the main previous work related to the study of the performance of the linear in¬duction motor under aonsinusoidal excitation conditions. Als( a quick review of the literature dealing with space harmonic,, in linear motors is included.Chapter I contains a representation of a two-dimensi¬OPIal theory of the linear induction motor. In this chapter it is assumed that the winding is symmetrical and sinusoidal) distributed. The study considers only the first three time. |
