Abstract

: In recent years the e.lfect of secondary flow in heated and cooled tubes on Llow and beat transfer chara¬cteristics bave received much attension because the free convec’Vion is actually present in aJlY forced convection flow.The aim of the present thsis is to study the effect of inclination on the combined free and forced laminar and turbulent convective heat transfer tbrough beat exchangers.A tbeoretical approach has been made in tbe caseof uniformly cooled downward laminar flow of water on the an’lUlus of a single tube heat exchanger and unifromly hca’tjed upward turbulent flow of water on the inside tube.An experimental investivation is, also,carried outLOX bot-cold water single tube heat exchanger. ~heexperi~enta resu.lts are compared with bo•thGhe prev10us work and the prese,;::t theoretical study. ;.i.\VO empirical rormulre are obiJair:ed and indicated on lomograms.Both the theoretical s•~-;”-tdy and the experimental work sho.’1 that in bot laminar and l;uxbule,.:t tlows, Hesselt aumberincraases with the 111CreaSe of Reynolds number, Grashof mmlber and .inclination angle. ll’he maximv.m values.
