Abstract
sregarded as a fundamental material property governing the durability of concrete, particularly in structures exposed to marine environment.Low permeability of concrete can improve its resi~tance to water saturation; sulphate and other chemical attack; and most i~portantly, chloride ions penetrl!tion,which is considered to be a major cause of corrosion of reinforcing bars in concrete structures.So the permeability of the concrete needs to be determined properly.Many investigators in different countries around the world, have studied the influence of various parameters on concrete permeability . . Fig26 1973, Hanaor~ 1982, Martin29 1?86, Bamforth12 1987, Cabrera30 1988,and Dhir~ 1989 studied permeability of concrete for gases such as air, oxygen, and nitrogen.
